Operations

Estimator.

Built on request

A defined role. Discovery, implementation and configuration come before deployment. Not running for a customer yet.

Reports to
Your estimator

For contractors: Takes quantities off plans and drafts a priced estimate from your own rates.

01 / The assignment

A clear job. A named supervisor.

A woman checks a floor plan with a straightedge at a carpentry shop's drafting table.

We hire this worker to take quantities off your plans and draft a priced estimate from your own rates. It shows its measurements and assumptions so your estimator can check them, and it flags anything it is unsure about instead of guessing.

02 / Scope of work

What it does.

  1. Read the plans and drawings you supply and pull quantities from them.

  2. Match each item to a line in your price list.

  3. Apply your rates, waste factors and labor assumptions.

  4. Draft the estimate in your own spreadsheet.

  5. Flag items that look unusual or that it measured with low confidence.

  6. List every assumption next to the number it affects.

  7. Compare against similar past jobs so differences stand out.

03 / Tools and information

Works where the job lives.

Access and permitted actions are agreed during setup. Only the information and systems this job needs.

  • Your drawings

  • Your price list

  • Your estimating spreadsheet

04 / Safeguards and supervision

Built with
boundaries.

These limits are part of the job description.

Reports to

Your estimator

What it will never do

  • Set markup or margin.
  • Send an estimate to a customer.
  • Hide a measurement it is unsure about.
  • Change your rates or your price list.
  • Treat a drawing it cannot read as clear.

Hands to a person

  • An estimate with its assumptions
  • Low-confidence items, flagged
  • Items missing from your price list

Approval and follow-through

If nobody reviews it, the estimate stays a draft and the estimator gets a reminder. It never releases a number to a customer.

05 / A week on the job

The shape of a working week.

A typical week.

  1. Mon

Receives a drawing set and pulls quantities for the first area.

  2. Tue

Matches items to the price list and flags two with no matching line.

  3. Wed

The estimator reviews the draft, corrects one measurement and answers the flags.

  4. Thu

Compares the new estimate with two similar past jobs and notes the differences.

  5. Fri

Saves the estimate with its assumptions and lists what still needs a decision.

06 / In practice

You set the level of supervision.

The role's boundaries stay in place at every setting.

Supervision

Pick a setting to see which steps still go to a person. What a worker may do on its own is agreed during setup.

3 of 5 steps go to a person2 done by the worker

  1. 01

    Plans and drawings arrive.

    Worker does it
  2. 02

  4. 04

    Markup is set.

    Always a person
  5. 05

The estimate is saved with its assumptions.

    Person approves

Approve: the worker does each step, and nothing leaves or changes until a person approves.

07 / Getting started

Like bringing on a new hire.

Stop after any step.

  1. 01

    Map the process

We sit with your team and draw how this job moves today. You keep the map.

  2. 02

    Run a work sample

The worker does a few of your real past tasks. You compare the results with your team’s.

  3. 03

    Connect your tools

Only what the job needs: your drawings, your price list, your estimating spreadsheet. Revoke access any time.

  4. 04

    Supervised trial

Your team reviews everything before it goes out, and we adjust the rules each week.

  5. 05

    Go live, at your pace

Raise how much it does on its own where the trial earned it. Or keep approving every step.

09 / Questions

Before you bring it on.

What does an AI estimator do?

It reads your plans, pulls quantities, prices them from your own rates and drafts an estimate. It lists its assumptions and flags anything it is unsure about, and your estimator checks the result.

Can AI take quantities off drawings?

It can draft quantities from drawings you provide, and it marks anything it measured with low confidence. A person checks the numbers before they are used.

Does the AI estimator use my prices?

Yes. It uses your price list and your rates. It does not set markup or margin, and it asks when an item is not on your list.

Will the estimator replace my estimator?

No. It works beside your estimator and takes the repetitive measuring and pricing, so your estimator spends time checking and deciding.
